This is a tam worked in stockinet with a narrow brim in 2×2 ribbing. It’s got a plait cable that starts on one side, goes over the crown, and ends on the opposite side. I worked this on two circs, but it can be done on one long circ or dpns as well.
With worsted weight yarn and size 8 needles, cast on 80 sts and join to work in the round.

Bind Off
Turn hat inside out and work a modified three-needle bind off as follows:
1. Starting with the last stitch of the round (the one with the working yarn), slip 11 sts onto one needle and 11 sts onto another.
2. Hold both needles together in your left hand as if you were about to start working a row. The working yarn should be on the needle farthest away from you.
3. With the third needle in your right hand, slip the first stitch from the back needle. (1 st on the right ndl.)
4. Slip 1 st from the front needle. Slip 1 st from the back needle. (3 sts on right ndl.) Pass the first slipped stitch (the one from the front needle) over the second slipped stitch ( the one from the back needle). (2 sts on right ndl.)
5. Repeat Step 4 until only 1 st rem on left needle. Slip that last st without doing anything else to it. (12 sts on right ndl.)
6. Bind off in the usual way. When only 2 sts rem on the left needle, pass the one farthest from the tip over the one closest to it, and finish binding off.
