Notes:
1. For a pretty edge, slip the first stitch of every row purlwise.
2. By the time you begin the lace, you will have 8 markers in the work. The lace is worked between Markers 2 and 3 and between Markers 6 and 7. The increases are worked between Markers 1 and 2, 3 and 4, 5 and 6, and 7 and 8. Before you start an even row, check the number of stitches in the increase sections. When you have 8, move Markers 2 and 7 7 stitches closer to the edge and Markers 3 and 6 7 stitches closer to the center. Then continue working as usual. This will make sense when the work is in your hands.
3. Before you attach the 8th skein, string 119 seed beads onto it so that the beads will be on the working yarn when you bind off.
Cast on 5 sts.
Rows 1, 3, 5: K.
Rows 2, 4: K1, * m1, k1 *: 9, 17 sts.
Place a marker after the 3rd, 7th, 10th, and 14th stitches (4 markers in all).
Row 6: K3, sm, yo, k to marker, yo, sm, k3, sm, yo, k to marker, yo, sm, k3.
Row 7: K.
Rep Rows 6-7 4 times, until there are 12 sts between the widely spaced sets of markers: 33 sts.
Place additional markers after the 4th, 14th, 19th, and 29th stitches (8 markers in all).
Rows 8 and 10 (rs): K3, sm, yo, k to marker, sm; (K2, * yo, sk2p, yo, k4; rep from *, ending k5 at marker); sm, k to marker, yo, sm, k3, sm, yo, k to marker, sm; (K5, * yo, sk2p, yo, k4; rep from *, ending k2 at marker); sm, k to marker, yo, sm, k3.
Rows 9, 11, 13, 15: K to 2nd marker, sm, p to 3rd marker, sm, k to 6th marker, sm, p to 7th marker, sm, k to end.
Rows 12 and 14: K3, sm, yo, k to marker, sm; (K5, * yo, sk2p, yo, k4; rep from *, ending k2 at marker); sm, k to marker, yo, sm, k3, sm, yo, k to marker, sm; (K2, * yo, sk2p, yo, k4; rep from *, ending k5 at marker); sm, k to marker, yo, sm, k3.
Rep Rows 8-15 20 times, ending with Row 14: 353 sts. Continue at Row 16.
Rows 16 and 18: K.
Row 17: K1, k2 tog tbl, sm, m1, k to 4th marker, m1, sm, k3, sm, m1, k to 8th marker, m1, sm, k2 tog, k1: 355 sts.
Remove markers.
Row 19: K1, k2 tog tbl, k to last 3 sts, k2 tog, k1: 353 sts.
Bind off as follows:
Bo1 as if to purl; * slide bead to right needle, yo, pass st over yo (holding bead to public side of shawl), bo3; rep from *, ending bo1.
Weave in all loose ends, and press lightly to block.
